Meopel ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

• Phone number — used for authentication via OTP. We do not share it with other users.
• Profile information — first name, age, gender, and an optional one-line bio.
• Profile photo — one photo required for accountability and safety.
• Location — neighbourhood or GPS coordinates when you post or browse plans. We do not track your location continuously.
• Plan activity — plans you post, join requests you send or receive, and meetup history.
• Device token — Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to send push notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and maintain your session.
• To show your plan to other eligible users based on activity and location.
• To send push notifications about join requests, acceptances, and reminders.
• To maintain an internal trust and safety system (never shown publicly).

3. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.
• We do not show your phone number to other users — ever.
• We do not publish trust scores, reputation ratings, or behavioural signals publicly.
• We do not scrape or store your contacts.

4. Data Sharing

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and push notifications.
• Google Cloud Storage — photo storage.
• MongoDB — self-hosted database on a private server.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app: Profile → Delete Account. Alternatively, you may email us at meopel.app@gmail.com to request deletion.

6. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are not used — authentication is via OTP only. Photos are stored in access-controlled cloud storage.

7. Children

Meopel is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
